Almara is the creative director of Zari and the visionary behind it all. You’ll often find her front of house, welcoming guests, or quietly inventing her next new menu. She calls upon her vast knowledge of Indian food and culture, having travelled extensively across the subcontinent and she is, in her own right, an extremely fine home cook. She is forever tweaking old family recipes handed down from her mother and mother-in-law. You’ll spot her flair for interior design too, everywhere you look. The silk cushions in the lounge, the sumptuous textile panels in the private dining room and the rose petal urli (bowl) in the bar are all her personal touch. If you think she deserves a pay rise, mention it to Sadique!
Sadique has been the famously cheerful and charming manager of Zari since 1990. He has 35 years in the business, nurturing and training his staff with strict discipline and practical jokes! He prides himself on brilliant customer relations and is always keen to show you around his kitchen (and has even been known to give you a lift home) – just ask! He is committed to providing exceptional service and making his customers feel valued.
Head Chef, Osman, started his career in 1978 at the Deewaniam Restaurant in Drummond Street, London. He has trained under Ram Avtar and Jeet Singh, two renowned chefs from the Taj Hotel in India, and has 35 years of experience under his belt. His sensitive palate and sense of adventure make him a formidable force in the kitchen, but it’s his genuine passion for food that makes his dishes truly special.
Our international team bring their regional cuisines and local knowledge with them when they make their home at Zari.
Interested in joining our friendly team? We are always looking for passionate and experienced front of house and kitchen staff.
